Nathan Pettijohn, author of PUBLIC OPINION, announces his new book will release in mid-September.  The title, “For What It’s Worth,” is a high school comedy somewhere between Uncut Gems and Superbad and is set in a Tulsa high school in 2006. The author notes, "I personally attended Owasso High School and Tulsa University, so am a native and excited to have my newest novel set in my hometown."

SYNOPSIS:  The prank pact was meant to be fun. Now they just want to live through it.

Steven E. Wedel: An Oklahoma Author

Steven E. Wedel began craving fame and fortune in the literary world when he was in high school. After writing his way through careers as a machinist, journalist, corporate writer, public relations specialist, and now as a high school English teacher, he’s decided to keep writing despite the lack of wealth and notoriety.

Wedel has published over 20 books, mostly in the adult horror genre, but he’s also written for the young adult, children’s, Western, and thriller markets. He’s dabbled in other genres using pseudonyms. His non-fiction writing includes how-to articles for writers, literary criticism, and hundreds of articles for print newspapers and online sites.

In 2004 Wedel earned a master’s degree in liberal studies, creative writing emphasis, from the University of Oklahoma. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1999, and graduated from Enid High School in 1984. He is a lifelong Oklahoman, father of four, with three grandsons. He currently lives in Midwest City, Oklahoma, with his dogs Bubba and Bear. He likes to kayak and camp when he doesn’t have papers to grade.

Oklahoma Author Announces Two New Works

 New works by author and researcher Marilyn A Hudson will be coming about April 2023. In response to the high demand for her book Sooner Saucers: Oklahoma UFO's 1947-1969 she had put together a second volume that will highlight events before, during and after the dates of the Project Blue Book and will include many first person accounts of things seen over Oklahoma skies. Sooner Saucers: Volume 2 will include short biographies of some significant names in Oklahoma related to the topic, an Indepth look at the influences and events surrounding sightings and so much more. 

Also, she will be releasing, with co-author Cullan Hudson, OKLAHOMA UFO's: A ROUTE 66 GUIDE.  This handy little guide book will help add a little something different to the next cruise down the Mother Road by highlighting events of the strange kind in the skies, and on the ground, along the famous and historic highway.

Sapulpa Public Library Set to Host Oklahoma Authors Showcase

Sapulpa, OK—Sapulpa Public Library announced today that it will host the first annual Oklahoma Authors Showcase.

The event is made possible by a grant from Oklahoma Humanities, and generous donations from our community partners and patrons.

The Oklahoma Authors Showcase will be held on November 19, 2022, from 10am -1:45pm in the lower- level Frank Hall Auditorium. It will feature three-time US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo as the keynote speaker, and 12 other Oklahoma Authors who will read selections from their works, answer questions from the audience, and have books available for signing. This event is free and open to the public.

“Bringing the Oklahoma Authors Showcase to Sapulpa will help create a kind of cultural hub here at the

Sapulpa Public Library, so people won’t have to go all the way to Tulsa or Oklahoma City to interact with authors and the arts.” Kristin Haddock, Library Director said recently. “It’s just one of the exciting new programs we’re working on here.”

Author Marilyn A. Hudson Visited Middle School Students to Encourage Writing

Stroud area author, researcher and storyteller, Marilyn A. Hudson, spent a day recently visiting with middle school students exploring writing, sensory language, and the writing and publishing process. The day was topped off by a storytelling/writing program at the Bristow Public Library.

Bristow Public Library, October 21, "Marilyn A. Hudson, an author, historian, and storyteller from Stroud, came in and told all kinds of spooky stories and talked about her book 'Sooner Saucers: Oklahoma UFOs, 1947-1969'. 

She was awesome! She's a great storyteller and we were captivated by her haunted tales! We had a great day here at the library! We had two amazing Oklahoma authors visit us and there was a great turnout. We want to thank Connie Cronley and Marilyn Hudson for coming today..."

Description: Upheaval comes to the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma over a proposed Native Theme park. The odd alliance of an Apache and a Sioux promoter attracts the attention of Choctaw officers when a powwow doesn’t seem to be the philanthropic fund-raiser it is touted to be. Then a fourteen-year-old Sioux boy is found dead in the Kiamichi Wilderness. About the Author:

Lu Clifton writes adult mysteries set in Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle, with a mingling of Native American cultural beliefs and traditions. She became interested in those cultural traditions while tracing her mother’s Choctaw roots. 

She was born in and spent her early childhood in southeastern Oklahoma, then moved to the Texas Panhandle with her family. She completed an associate degree at Amarillo Junior College in Texas and a B.A. and M.A. in English at Colorado State University. She now resides in Illinois. Her two happily married sons live in Oregon and Illinois and stay in close touch. Her housemate is a gray tabby named Mary Jane that she rescued from an animal shelter.

Writing for adults and children, she is a member of the Oklahoma Writers Federation, Mystery Writers of America, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. The first three books in the Sam Chitto mystery series were finalists for the Oklahoma Book Award for Fiction in the year following publication. Released in 2019, Seeking Grace in Beulah Land, a Novel, was a finalist for the 2020 award.

She has three middle-grade novels in print. Her middle-grade novel, Freaky Fast Frankie Joe, received a Friends of American Writers Award for Juvenile Fiction in 2013, and Seeking Cassandra won the 2017 Oklahoma Book Award for Young Adult Fiction.

Arkansas Writer's Event - March 2020

March 15, 2020 - Register early for this Workshop on Writing About Religion


What makes this workshop special? Writing about religion presents a unique set of challenges. Whether you’re writing about your own faith or someone else’s, it takes a high level of both objectivity and self-awareness to succeed. The goal of the three-hour workshop is for participants to have the start of a writing project.

Workshop participants will go over some of the thornier aspects of communicating about a religion, religious people, or even sacred objects and houses of worship. We will read from exemplary writing such as Malcolm Gladwell’s New Yorker piece Sacred and Profane. In this article, Gladwell examines how misunderstanding of religious beliefs can lead to failed communication, illustrated by the tragic result of negotiation between FBI agents and the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas. We will also read John Jeremiah Sullivan’s Upon This Rock, the essay in GQ in which he narrates his visit to the CrossOver Festival, a three-day Christian music festival, dispassionately describing the festival scene and only revealing close to the end of the article what his personal relationship to the Christian faith is.



The workshop is appropriate for writers from all genres and all experience levels. Participants needn’t ascribe to any particular faith. It will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 at the Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow, 515 Spring Street, Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The class fee is $75 per person. Workshop attendees may reserve a writing suite for a residency at the Colony at the subsidized rate of $75 per night.
